Gentle Balance Birth

I’m Karen Bayne. I’m a birth doula and childbirth educator. I live in Northampton, MA with my husband and three boys.  I am an active member of the Green River Doula Network.  As a doula, I have been nurturing mothers, their partners and new babies since 2003. When I’m not working with my clients, I might be found writing about birth,  reading, cooking, gardening, knitting and running around with my boys.

My childbirth educator's certification comes from ICEA, the International Childbirth Education Association. I am proud to work with this organization that supports informed choices and family centered maternity care. Birth works well when we put women at the center of it.

I provide evidence-based, independent childbirth classes for women and their partners. My class emphasizes self-care, labor support and informed decision-making. Whatever type of birth you are preparing for, independent childbirth classes will give you the information you need to make the best decisions for yourself and your baby.
